World Bank to continue to support Pakistan’s reforms agenda

ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (TNS): World Bank Country Director Patchamuthu Illangovan called on Advisor on Finance Miftah Ismail in Islamabad.

They exchanged views regarding progress on different ongoing World Bank financed projects besides having discussion on future development programmes.

The Country Director apprised the Advisor of the various recent initiatives of the World Bank and discussed the up-coming projects likely to be implemented in the near future.

Illangovan reiterated World Bank’s resolve to keep up support for continuing the process of reforms by the Pakistan Government which in the last four and half years had greatly helped the country achieve macro-economic stability.

Illangovan also shared with the Adviser details about Agreements worth US$305.0 million recently signed with the World Bank to support projects in agriculture sector in Punjab and to improve the nutrition status of children as well as women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Adviser Miftah Ismail appreciated World Bank for extending its continuous support to the Government of Pakistan in its efforts to achieve sustainable economic development in the country.

Secretary Finance also participated in the meeting.
