Politicians react after Ahmadpur Sharqia tragedy

BAHAWALPUR, June 25 (TNS): After the tragic incident took place in which at least 123 people were burnt to death in Ahmadpur Sharqia, and more than hundred were injured as a result of the fire that broke out after an oil tanker flipped over, politicians expressed their condolences on social media.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have expressed heartfelt deep grief and sorrow over the tragic incident of oil tanker near Ahmed Pur Sharqia on Sunday.

In their separate condolence messages, they sympathized with bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of the injured.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief over the heavy loss of life in the unfortunate accident of oil tanker fire at Ahmad Pur Sharqia, Bahawalpur.

The Prime Minister has directed provincial government to provide full medical assistance to the injured with burns.

He has expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls. Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb says all out efforts are being made to save maximum lives and all possible facilities are being provided in hospitals. The Minister of State also expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic incident.

Minister of State for Education Baligh-ur-Rehman visited Bahawal Victoria Hospital and inspected the medical facilities extended to burnt patients of Bahawalpur Tragedy. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives in Ahmedpur Sharqia incident. The Minister in a message offered condolences to affected families and prayed for recovery to the injured.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Inaf (PTI) Chairman took to Twitter and wrote that it is ‘shocking & heartbreaking tragedy this morning in Ahmedpur Sharkia: oil tanker blaze killing 200. A national tragedy of epic proportions.’ Imran said he has ‘asked ldrship present in area to immed assess what assistance can be provided to the injured and to families of victims.’ PTI leader Asad Umar wrote, ‘Heart breaking tragedy near Ahmedpur Sharqia. Safety standards were clearly not followed by the oil tanker.’ PTI’s Shireen Mazari said, ‘Horrifying oil tanker tragedy in Ahmedpur Sharkia nr Bahawalpur with 200 dead & lack of medical facilities nearby may increase the toll.’ ‘Mega national tragedy has exposed our lack of investment in accident and medical responses/facilities. Another sad day for nation.’Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri said in his message that ‘Loss of precious human lives in an accident that took place in Bahawalpur is a national tragedy.’‘May Allah Almighty grant patience to the families who lost their near and dear ones in an Oil Tanker accident in Bahawalpur.’

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker and Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Acting Speaker, National Assembly have expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over the tragic incident of oil tanker near Ahmedpur Sharqia, Bahawalpur and prayed for departed soul. In their separate condolence messages, they sympathized with bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of the injured.

The Speaker has directed the concerned authorities to provide all best medical facilities to the injured people.
