Robberies, street crimes continue to rise in Islamabad

Islamabad, Feb 14 (TNS): The federal capital witnessed an increase in incidents of robberies and snatching incidents despite hundreds of pickets set up by capital police, robbers and burglars struck at different places in the city and made off with cash and other valuables worth millions of rupees.

Late night five unknown masked gunmen struck into the markets within Golra police station jurisdiction ransacked the shops and made their way with valuables worth billion.

Kamran a local shopkeeper told TNS that the masked armed persons have vandalized their shops and   put the shops on ablaze after looting. The shopkeeper said Golra which located in the Saddar Zone of the city has been turned into the crime hub but police is reluctant to take action against criminals. He said despite umpteenth complaint to the police the police itself threating for dire consequences.

After the theft incident the locals and shopkeepers have staged protest against the Islamabad police brunt the tyres and blocked the road.

The protestors have also chanted the slogans against the police.  The Inspector General of Police has taken the notice and directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police to submit a comprehensive report.
