IHC up holds valentine day celebration decision

Islamabad, Feb,14 (TNS): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has upheld the decision to celebrate valentine day.

The hearing was conducted by a single member bench headed by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui during the hearing   Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) counsel Zeshan has submitted the report and said that PEMRA has banned all Valentine’s Day promotions and monitored all mediums and sent out notifications banning any related promotions. The Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has sought report from Federal Ministry of Information, and PEMRA within 10 days and remarked that we have trend of red handkerchief and they have red rose. Justice Siddiqui also criticized the morning show and said morning shows are causing destruction the channels whose morning shows are against our basic morals and Islamic teachings should be banned. The orders were given on a petition submitted by citizen Abdul Waheed, who maintained that promotions on mainstream and social media for Valentine’s Day are “against Islamic teachings and should be banned immediately.
