Dubai, Feb. 16 (TNS): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi revealed that the national team might play all their home games in Malaysia rather than the United Arab Emirates in the future, a sports website reported on Friday.
No international team, with the exception of Zimbabwe in May 2015, have toured Pakistan for a full series since the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by armed militants in March 2009.
However, while international cricket is slowly trickling back to Pakistan, with a World XI and Sri Lanka having visited recently, Sethi admitted that it is becoming a real financial burden to hold all of Pakistan’s home games in the UAE.
With that in mind, Sethi confirmed that he will be visiting Malaysia in the first week of March to inspect the facilities and scout possible venues where the national team can hold matches.
If everything pans out, it will cut the board’s expenses “in half”.

“I am going to Malaysia to see their grounds.
If the needed arrangements are agreed upon, having Malaysia as a home venue would cut our costs in half,” Sethi quoted by Sport360. If Malaysia is chosen as Pakistan’s new home base, it could also host other tournaments, including the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
