Islamabad, Feb 22 (TNS): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has immediately acted and removed the Nawaz Sharif name from its record as President of PML-N.
According to detail, ECP declared that the position of head of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was vacant, after implementation of the Supreme Court (SC) verdict while hearing petitions against Election Act of 2017.The election body has also written a letter to acting Secretary General of (PML-N) Ahsan Iqbal and asked them to appoint the president of the party without which the party will become dysfunctional.
He was informed that in pursuance of apex court order name of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as President of PML-N has been removed from the record of ECP. Since the office of President of PML-N has become vacant w.e.f 28.07.2017, accordingly, you are required to fill the post of the President in accordance with article 15 of the of the constitution of PML-N under intimation of ECP for further necessary action” it started in letter. Furthermore, attention was invited towards Article 15 of the constitution of the PML-N. On the other hand ECP has convened an important meeting today Thursday.
