Islamabad, Feb 22 (TNS):   An Accountability court on Thursday reserved verdict against ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s objections over supplementary references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar appeared in the court during which the former PM expressed reservations on the references. Nawaz’s lawyer said that no new evidences or assets have been surfaced in supplementary references while only few transactions were highlighted, continuing that NAB never informs about its witnesses. Time is required to counter-examine the statements of the witnesses, lawyer said.

Meanwhile, NAB prosecutor said that new documents regarding income of Sharif family were submitted in the references, adding that SC had ordered to file interim references in six weeks. The court has accepted Nawaz and Maryam’s exemption plea from today’s hearing and directed Captain (r) Safdar to appear at 1.30pm after which the verdict in supplementary references will be announced.

Justice Mohammad Bashir read out the verdict and dismissed the petition, seeking exemption for two weeks from February 19 to meet Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing medical treatment in London.SC disqualified Sharif from office in July over unreported sources of annual income of about $10,000, a salary the former premier denies ever receiving. The high court also ordered the NAB to investigate and conduct a trial into the Sharif family’s wider finances, including the London properties.
