Srinagar, February 22 (TNS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has termed the report released by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Central Jail, Srinagar, as illogical, ridiculous and a bundle of lies.

The resistance leaders in a statement in Srinagar said that following the recent escape of a prisoner from SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, the puppet rulers, Indian agencies and police had started penalizing political prisoners and other inmates especially those lodged at the Srinagar Central Jail. “After a series of false and concocted reports by some journalists, biased media channels and papers, many innocent political detainees have been shifted to the jails outside the Kashmir Valley. To tighten the noose on other inmates ridiculous reports are being framed and spread through media and other means,” they deplored.

The leaders said that the CID had released a report in the media in which it had stated that Srinagar Central Jail was being used as the main recruitment hub by militants and the youth were being selected and lured from here to join the armed struggle. “CID in its report has blamed the traditional Ameer-i-Zindan institution for the mess and termed it as a parallel administration running and facilitating militancy which is a blatant lie,” they added.

The leaders maintained that from Mahaz-i-Raishumari days in 1960s, Ameer-i-Zindan institution has been a forum facilitating good relations between jail authorities and prisoners and often this forum has benefited the jail authorities to run the jails smoothly but today this forum is also being slandered to inflict more trouble on the Kashmiri inmates. They said, the puppet authorities are saying that Srinagar Central Jail and the people lodged there are promoting militancy from this jail. “This is a deliberate attempt to shift the blame. People at the helm know it very well that youth are taking refuge in arms due to police torture, humiliation and aggression,” they added.
