Lahore, Feb. 23 (TNS): Over 300 Civil officers on Friday adopted resolution against Cheema’s arrest.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) action against former Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has created unrest among the bureaucracy that pushed them to gather around a table to draft a strategy.

A resolution against Cheema’s arrest by the NAB was adopted during an emergency meeting of the civil services officers held here at the Government Officers’ Residences.

Over 300 civil services officers, in attendance, have demanded a suo motu notice of Cheema’s arrest.

According to press release, the Punjab bureaucracy demanded the formation of a judicial-like tribunal for their constitutional protection.

They drafted a charter of demand and sent it to Punjab cabinet. In their charter they demanded: Probe against any civil servants should be conducted through special tribunal comprises of senior bureaucrats on the order of chief secretary.

“After the investigation by the special tribunal, the case of civil servants should be sent to NAB or other trial institution. Government should provide legal team and legal assistance in case against any civil servant. Government should also take instant steps to prevent misbehave with any civil servant. Apology should also be offered over the misconduct with Maqbool Ahmed Dhawla, Aftab Cheema, Muhammad Ali, Waseem Ajmal, Amir Aqiq Khan, and Safdar Virik Government should add executive allowance in their salaries”, they demanded.

They also refused to accept any orders issued from chief minister house and other political parties and said the orders should be sent through chief secretary and IGP Punjab.

They were of the opinion that NAB should arrest those involved in corrupt practices but should withhold the dignity of any person. They called for the legislation to implement their demands.
