Narowal Feb 25 (TNS): Ahsan Iqbal, who holds the dual portfolio of Interior and Planning Minister, was not the first politician in Pakistan or in the world to have had experienced the shoe-attack.

Iqbal was addressing a workers’ convention in his home constituency, when a participant of the gathering, who was later identified as Bilal Haris, lobbed his shoe at him as soon as he approached the stage to address the party supporters in Aliabad. The fast-moving shoe hit Iqbal in the chest before it fell on the stage. The seemingly confused minister muttered some inaudible words at the shoe-thrower before the party workers got hold of him and gave him a drubbing before handing him over to the police deployed at the place for security.

According to reports, the minister had to cut short his speech and leave the premises, however, Iqbal claimed that neither the shoe touched him nor he discontinued his speech. The interior minister alleged that it was a “3rd rate PTI tactic”, which was condemned by the people.
