Islamabad Feb 27 (TNS): After the Supreme Court declared Nawaz Sharif ineligible to lead his Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as president, the ruling party has called a huddle of the central working party today to deliberate upon choosing a new frontrunner to lead the party and, most likely, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will be picked up as interim president.

All party leaders including Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Raja Zafarul Haq, Saad Rafique, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif and other senior party leaders will put their heads together to pick up the new leader for an interim period before the general council of the party approves his election as permanent president within 45 days.

According to sources, the huddle will also adopt a resolution, reposing full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz, the three-time elected prime minister, who could not complete office term as the chief executive of the country.

According to the sources, the party leadership believes that the certain forces that are at play currently want to get rid of Nawaz because of his tough stance against the judiciary and the powers that be, who, he accuses of being part of a conspiracy in his ouster as the prime minister.

According to one senior party leader, who wished not to be named, the adversaries never accepted democracy since when the country came into being.
