Lahore, Feb. 28 (TNS): Amid the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Punjab government locked horns over Cheema issue, the provincial assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution against NAB Chief Justice Javed Iqbal condemning Ahad Cheema’s apprehension.

The resolution also demanded to repeal the plea bargain law, allegedly misused by many crocks.

The prime anti-graft watchdog probed Shehbaz Sharif over the charges of graft in Asheeyana Housing Scheme.

Contractor Shahid Shafiq and ex-Director General LDA Ahad Cheema have been detained by NAB in the case.

The assembly passed the resolution against the watchdog tabled by Rana Sanaullah, Law minister of Punjab.

The resolution demanded the NAB to revoke plea bargain law, accusing that the NAB was violating basic human rights.

“National Accountability Bureau not only detained, harassed a senior bureaucrat but also involved in character assassination of top government official”, it read.

National Accountability Bureau’s law contradicts human rights and dignity,” the resolution added.

Amid the session which passed the resolution against NAB, the opposition parties staged a walked out.
