Islamabad March 1 (TNS): In a veiled reference to the establishment and the judiciary, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said on Thursday that institutional interest could not be termed national interest.

“As a political worker, I dare to say there is political uncertainty in the country. Interests of certain institutions cannot be called as the national interest. Each and every organ of the state and institutions will have to function within their respective domain,” he said while talking to the media after attending a huddle on the current power generation and supply situation in the country.

Asif made it clear that electricity will be given to only those individuals who will pay their utility bills. Pilferers and thieves will not get the electricity, he said.

The foreign minister while taking on the international community over the plight of civilians in Indian held Kashmir said that the world powers have turned a deaf year to the grave situation as thousands of civilians have been blinded by pellets being used by Indian security forces. “The heart and conscious of the international community is no more awake while the situation is getting worse in held Kashmir with each passing day,” he said adding that the sacrifices of the brave people of Kashmir and the armed forces, performing duty along the Line of Control, will not go in waste.
