ISLAMABAD, Mar 1 (TNS): Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan to furnish all documents in response to the papers submitted by the petitioner about his palatial Bani Gala house within one-week.

While taking up the case regarding encroachments at Bani Gala, the chief justice said that the bench was more concerned about environmental issues and public health.

Addressing CADD minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, who was present in the court, the chief justice inquired from him if he had checked the filtration plants in the locality. The additional attorney general told they will film the area through a drone before submitting the report.

Meanwhile, Imran’s counsel denied the media reports that the Bani Gala residence had been constructed illegally Upon that, Justice Saqib regretted that the documents were released to the media prior to submitting to the court.

A day earlier, Muhammad Umar, a former union council official of the Bhara Kahu locality told the Supreme Court — hearing the case about encroachments in Bani Gala — that Imran Khan did not get the no-objection certificate before constructing his palatial 300-kanal house. Earlier, the apex court had the order to verify the documents submitted by Khan’s counsel Babar Awan regarding the site plan, the layout and NOC of the estate.
