Swabi March 1 (TNS): The Swabi district administration has banned shaping beard in various styles, terming the act un-Islamic and against the Sunnah.
A notification issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner Swabi said: “The barbershop owners and headressers are strictly directed that they refrain from cutting beard in stylish and classy shape. Designing of the beard is un-Islamic and inconsistent with the Sunnah and there is a ban on making such designs by the barbers. Those failed to comply with this order will be dealt with according to the law.”
Earlier, barbers in Mansehra and DI Khan were refrained from carrying out various designs on the beard and the DI Khan district council also passed a resolution banning the fashionable styles. Critics of the stylish beard say that the new classy styles were drifting the youth from the “right path” and the Sunnah while those favouring the stylish beard argue that keeping the stylish beard or making various designs were their basic right and they term the interference by the administration “uncalled for”.
