Islamabad March 5 (TNS): Privatization Minister Daniyal Aziz on Monday submitted a written reply to the Supreme Court in a contempt case stating that he respects courts and did not speak ill of it.

The minister through his counsel submitted the reply in response to a show-cause notice seeking an explanation from him for making contemptuous and derogatory remarks against the judiciary.

In his reply, Aziz said that as a Pakistani, I believe in the supremacy of the Constitution and has deep respect for all state institutions. He said that “all the state institutions including the judiciary were fundamental pillars of the state and as a parliamentarian, I had taken the oath to respect the state institutions. I never thought to defame the state intuitions but “the media presented my speech out of context,” he added. He pleaded the court to take back the show-cause notice issued to him.
