Islamabad March 7 (TNS): After the Election Commission of Pakistan has summoned leaders of political parties with evidence to corroborate their allegations regarding horse-trading in the recently held Senate elections, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Wednesday that she never accused anyone of selling or purchasing of votes.

While talking to the media outside the accountability court, Marriyum, who had showed up to express solidarity with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif during his court appearance in the corruption references, said that it was obvious from the Senate seats that such parties secured seats which did not have the required strength in provincial assemblies. She said that she was not implicating anyone but rather she was explaining the reality and those involved in horse-trading should be punished to do away with the involvement of money in the Senate polls.

Lashing out at PTI chief Imran Khan, the minister said that the former keeps on lecturing on democracy but when it comes to parliamentary business he seldom takes interest and his disappearance from Senate polls was ample proof of his hollow slogan of strengthening democracy and the parliament.

The minister also said that political parties just make a hue and cry in the street instead of debating legislative issues in the parliament.
