ECP adjourns hearing on MQM-P convenership case

Islamabad Mar 7 (TNS): The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday  adjourned the hearing in the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan convenership case till March 13.

Farooq Sattar’s lawyer Babar Sattar appeared before the poll body while MQM Bahadurabad group counsel Farogh Naseem did not show up for the hearing.

During the proceedings conducted by a four-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commissioner, Sattar said that the convenership case has badly affected the reputation of the party. He requested the bench to conclude the case as early as possible as the senators have to vote for Senate chairman and deputy chairman elections.

Meanwhile, Barrister Saif said that Farogh Naseem will take the oath as a senator on the day when polls will be held for the Senate chairman slot.

Farooq Sattar has challenged the jurisdiction of ECP to hear the party’s convenership case and the poll body was only responsible for conductions elections.

Meanwhile, Kamran Tessori said that steps will be taken to resolve the party matters without a friction.
