Islamabad March 8 (TNS): A trial court hearing the Avenfield properties reference against former premier Nawaz Sharif and his children on Thursday rejected a request made by Wajid Zia, who had investigated the Panama Papers case, to make the Joint Investigation Team report part of the whole case.

While recording his statement along with 10-volume of JIT report, Zia said that the JIT recorded statements of the Nawaz family members and others in the Panama Papers case. He sought to make the whole JIT report part of the case record. The trial court asked Zia to record his statement in all the three references against Sharifs separately. Maryam Nawaz and Muhammad Safdar’s counsel Amjad Pervez also cross-examed Zia in the Avenfield corruption reference.

Accountability Court Judge Mohammad Bashir is hearing the corruption references against the Sharifs and Dar after the Supreme Court has referred the cases to the trial court in its July 28, 2017.
