Islamabad March 8 (TNS): A special court hearing the treason case against Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Thursday ordered to confiscate his properties.

The special court headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi heard the treason case related to the emergency the former president had imposed in the country in 2017.

When the hearing resumed after a gap of nine months, the interior ministry submitted a report on Musharraf’s seven properties.

Prosecutor Akram Sheikh pressed the court to issue Musharraf’s production orders. Sheikh also said that they did not want Musharraf’s properties to be confiscated and he should voluntarily appear before the court and face the case.

Akhtar Shah representing Musharraf pleaded against confiscating his client ’s properties until March 21.

After arguments, Chief Justice Afridi said that the court orders confiscating the properties of the former president for failing to appear before the court. The hearing was adjourned till March 21.

Musharraf was indicted in the case in March 2014, however, the former president denied the charges.

On March 18, 2016, Musharraf left Pakistan for Dubai for treatment and since then, he has not returned to the country. The special has already declared Musharraf a proclaimed offender.
