Islamabad March 13 (TNS): Yet in another contempt of court instance, the Supreme Court on Tuesday indicted (formally charge-sheeted) Privatization Minister Daniyal Aziz, who pleaded not guilty.

The Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed read out the charge-sheet and announced that the minister has committed the contempt of court in his several media talks and speeches, he had held after the apex court adjudicated a case against PTI leader Jehangir Tareen in a case related to offshore companies.

After the Supreme Court disqualified Tareen a few months back, Aziz reportedly said that the decision was scripted and the apex court had tried to show itself an independent institution. Aziz had also said that Tareen was penalized to save PTI chief, Imran Khan.

After the statements, the apex court had taken suo motu notice and the minister had submitted a reply, which the bench said was unsatisfactory.

Justice Munir Alam, who read out the charge-sheet, told the minister that action will be taken against him section 3 of contempt of court and he was asked to present witnesses or evidence in his defence
