Islamabad, March 16 (TNS): The stalemate of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) is worsening with every coming day as the academic boycott and shut down precipitates enters into the fifth day on Friday, says a press release.

The university is constantly dysfunctional, and no academic/research activity could have been conducted so far.

The meeting of the ASA committee with the administration committee concluded without any positive outcome.

The ASA committee lamented the non-serious attitude of the administration and expressed serious reservations on the disempowered mandate of the administration committee.

The meeting was a great disappointment, said the ASA President, Dr. Aqeel Bokhari. “We have noticed that all these meetings are like they met, wept and left”.

Administration committee has no mandate and they told us that they can’t propose any suggestion to the Vice Chancellor. Our demand of resignation is still intact, and we won’t backtrack from our demand.

Lockdown will persist unless the VC steps down. Dr. Bokhari expressed a fear that amid recalcitrance of the incumbent Vice Chancellor there is a possibility that next semester may be quashed. The relevant authorities should take the immediate notice.

It also reflects that VC can go to any extent to cling to his position albeit he is declared incompetent in the Presidential inquiry. Dr. Bokhari further added that we won’t discontinue our protest till the Vice Chancellor steps down.

Apparently, Dr. Ashraf is resorted to time buying tactics and thinks that with this he can further linger on but he is sadly mistaken.

We will leave no stone unturned to make sure his exit. Later on, the protesting faculty held a press conference and met with the media representatives and apprised them of the current impasse.

ASA also provided the proofs of the VC’s irregularities, anomalies and shared the white paper published against him.

The President ASA urged media people to juxtapose the white paper and the bogus response of VC.

The ASA urged media representatives to give high priority to the issue which hinges the future of the thousands of students. One man is destroying an incredible institution and it is indeed appalling.
