Islamabad March 17 (TNS): The Islamabad High Court On Saturday overturned a sentence handed down by a sessions court to a man suspected of murdering the model.

Maaz Waqar was sentenced to death in the murder case of ex-Miss Singapore Fehmina Chaudhry, who was found murdered in 2013 in Aabpara in Islamabad while she was intending to purchase a property from Waqar, a broker.

The model reportedly went missing on October 10, 2013, but later her body was found on the outskirts of Islamabad on October 14.

The IHC judgment said that the prosecution failed to furnish evidence showing that the accused and victim visited a place together before she was killed. The IHC also said that the police knew where the body was dumped. The verdict said that no evidence was also found that the jewelry of the victim was sold in the market. The IHC ordered to release the convict after no evidence was found against him.

The police had claimed in its charge-sheet that the real estate broker confessed to murdering the model before dumping her body in a stream on the outskirts of Islamabad.
