Islamabad March 19 (TNS): Sindh Police Inspector General AD Khawaja told a Supreme Court bench on Monday that fugitive police officer Rao Anwar was provided a boarding pass of a private jet and he may have escaped the country.
The statement prompted the chief justice, who is hearing the suo moto case of the killing of Naqeebullah Mehsood in a fake police encounter in Karachi, to remark that those who were facilitating Anwar will not be spared.
At the same time, the chief justice asked the Sindh police chief to give an in-camera briefing to the bench at 1 pm regarding the absconding police officer’s movement at the Islamabad airport and his possible escape from the country.
The chief justice asked the fugitive police officer to surrendered to the law and present himself before the court and he would be provided full security. The top judge also made it clear that the alleged facilitators of Anwar will get severe punishment. The chief justice also expressed his astonishment as who provided help to the absconding police officer at the airport. The bench will resume hearing in the case after t the in-camera video about Anwar’s movement at the airport.
