ISLAMABAD March 19 (TNS): The Supreme Court on Monday summoned the interior minister and the interior secretary in a case pertaining to charging extra fee from expatriates for issuing identity cards.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the suo moto case regarding charging of extra fee from individuals in issuing National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
The chief justice observed that what was the reason for sending a summary seeking a change in fee of identity cards. The top judge summoned the interior minister and the interior secretary to update the court on the new development. The chief justice also proposed that a commission may be formed to review the fee structure for issuing the identity cards.
The case was adjourned till March 26.
