Lahore March 23 (TNS): Rebuffing the suggestion floated by Awami Muslim League chief Sheik Rasheed to impose judicial martial law, Chief Justice Mia Saqib Nisar made it loud and clear that such ideas could only be a figment of one’s imagination.
“There is no place for judicial martial. Democracy, democracy and only democracy is the destination of the country. The peoples’ vote will reign supreme,” the top judge said while speaking at a ceremony marking the Pakistan day.
The chief justice said that the Constitution was much clear and concepts like judicial martial law were alien to the charter of the country.
He said that there is no martial law, whether from inside or outside, in the country and democracy is the destination of the country.
The chief justice said that he will be the bulwark against any attempt to derail democracy.
The chief justice also called for unity to safeguard the freedom and independence of the country.
