ISLAMABAD March 24 (TNS): The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s stalwart and former interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan — who had been squabbling with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his scion Maryam Nawaz Sharif over their tough stance against the interference of certain institutions in the domain of parliament — is likely to part ways with the ruling party ticket after strong voices have emerged opposing his company in the party.

Senior PML-N leader and Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Nisar will not be given a party ticket for the next general election as, according to him, the former interior minister has ditched Sharif and concocted his own counter-narrative to challenge the narrative of the former premier and his daughter, which has trickled down and the public have subscribed to.

Nisar and the Sharif family came face to face after the Panama Papers verdict that ousted Sharif from office and later his criticism of the judiciary.

Political pundits believe that Nisar is close to the Establishment and he could not afford to go against them while the former premier, like an injured bull, has made up his mind to take on all adversaries to establish the sanctity of public vote and their elected representatives.

Pervaiz Rashid said that the PML-N will go to the polls with the Sharif’s narrative and it will be difficult for Nisar to align himself with the narrative and ultimately he will have to take a solo flight.

He, however, said that PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif will take a final decision regarding giving party ticket to Nisar, who is said to be close to the younger Sharif.

The PML-N senator said that Nisar will have to make up his mind whether or not he was with Nawaz Sharif and the party and should himself better decide his own fate.
