ISLAMABAD March 26 (TNS): The Islamabad High Court on Monday dismissed a petition of former Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan chairman Zafar Hijazi seeking to cancel a case related to tampering with the record of the Sharif family’s Chaudhry Sugar Mills.

IHC judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani rejected the petition and directed trial court to continue with the proceedings against Hijazi.

Earlier, special court judge Iram Niazi had rejected his plea for acquittal in the case.  She noted there was a sufficient evidence to proceed against him.
