Islamabad March 27 (TNS): Former senator Nehal Hashmi, who appeared in the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning in a contempt of court case, is likely to be indicted in the case as the apex court has halted the proceedings, allowing the lawyers to consult with each other and come up with proposals, suggesting how to deal with the contempt case.
Senior lawyer Rasheed A Rizvi sought time from the Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, who allowed the lawyers to consult over the contempt case.
At the start of the hearing, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar ran a video clip of Hashmi, containing his vitriolic remarks against judges and the judiciary. The former senator after hearing the video clip sought pardon but the chief justice took him to task saying he (Justice Nisar) would have been ashamed if he were in his place and Hashmi did not deserve leniency.
