ISLAMABAD, Mar 27 (TNS): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Tuesday approved Rs2.28 per unit cut in fuel price adjustment for the month of February.

The power regulator approved cut in power tariff during a public hearing presided over by chairman Brig (retd) Tariq Saddozai.

Central Power Purchase Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G) in a petition to NEPRA had sought Rs2.19 per unit reduction in power tariff for the said month.

However, the regulator approved Rs2.28 per unit cut in the tariff. An amount of Rs15 billion relief would be given to consumers in bills of the next month.

Domestic consumers of all public-run distribution companies except for the K-Electric will benefit from the reduction in the prices of electricity. Lifeline consumers and others who were using less than 300 units would not benefit from the reduction.
