ISLAMABAD March 27 (TNS): After the lawyers’ intervention, former senator Nehal Hashmi escaped from being indicted by the Supreme Court in a contempt case and the apex court took the notice back after he submitted a written apology.

Earlier, the top court had asked Hashmi to submit a written apology after the court resumed hearing in the contempt case. Hashmi apologized to Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar over his disparaging remarks. After he sought the apology, the lawyers pleaded the chief justice to pardon him.

The chief justice said that the former senator did not deserve the mercy, however, he was being pardoned as the judges did not want his children to suffer because of him.

The chief justice told Hashmi to submit a written apology.  Hashmi also assured the chief justice that he will never say anything against him.
