ISLAMABAD March 27 (TNS): The Supreme Court on Tuesday summoned foreign and interior secretaries to appear in the Memogate case on Wednesday.

The Memogate scandal involves an alleged memo from former ambassador Husain Haqqani to former US army chief Admiral Mike Mullen informing him that the army was planning to stage a coup against the then PPP government.

At the start of the hearing, the chief justice heading a three-member bench inquired from the FIA officials about Haqqani and his whereabouts. The chief justice said that Haqqani was not returning to the country despite giving a written statement. He said that it was a question of the country’s and the court’s honour.
