New York/Islamabad March 28 (TNS): Pakistan on Wednesday called for equitable representation on the United Nations Security Council by adding more non-permanent members.
While speaking at the inter-governmental negotiations on UNSC reform, Pakistan Ambassador to UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi said that equitable representation has been the primary impulse behind all security council reform efforts.
Criticizing the group of four position, Lodhi said that they have shown no flexibility in their campaign for expanding the Security Council by 10 seats, with 6 additional permanent and four non-permanent members.
On the other hand, Italy-Pakistan-led Uniting for Consensus group said that additional permanent members will not make the UNSC more effective.
