Lahore April 2 (TNS): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior leader and former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday met with Punjab Chief Minister and party president Shahbaz Sharif at his residence to sort out the differences that have pushed the estranged leader to take almost antagonistic position against former prime minister and his long time comrade Nawaz Sharif.
Sources claimed that Shahbaz asked Nisar to remain within the party as he (Shahbaz) will call the shot in the party affairs and issuing tickets to candidates aspiring to contest elections in the next general election.
Both the leaders also discussed party matters and the current political situation in the country and agreed that the differences within the party will be sorted out amicably.
According to the sources, Nisar also confided his reservations to Shehbaz, both of them have long been sharing the camaraderie.
Nisar, who had disassociated himself from the government and virtually from the party affairs, after the former prime minister took a frontal position against the judiciary after his ouster from power in the Panama Papers case. In the last three or four months, Nisar has strongly opposed Nawaz’s stance against the judiciary and other institutions, claiming that cash with state institution will cause an irreparable loss to the party. However, his concerns were met with scant attention by the former premier, who expresses his tirade against the judiciary, accusing it of being biased and jaundiced.
Nisar had earlier also refused to work under Maryam Nawaz, saying he could not afford to do politics under children.
The war of words between the senior Sharif and Nisar prompted the critics to say that both have parted ways after their divergence of views on many issues.
