Islamabad April 3 (TNS): Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has urged global powers to zero in on resolving international conflicts so that the menace of extremism and terrorism, which thrives on it, could be eliminated.

Addressing an international conference on counter-terrorism in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said that the latest wave of state terrorism unleashed by India against innocent Kashmiris in the held Kashmir, which, he said, will further jeopardize peace and stability in the region.

He said that it was the global powers’ responsibility to ensure the blood any citizen regardless of his faith and ethnicity should not be spilled like the one being witnessed in the held Kashmir.

“Otherwise, the terrorist outfits will exploit the situation to their advantage,” he said.

He said that no terrorist outfit could now use the soil of Pakistan for launching jihad in other countries.

Iqbal said that Pakistan carried out Zarb-e- Azb and other operations from its own resources to root out terrorism and eliminating the menace was essential for peace and development. He said that the nation’s resolve has not deterred despite the fact it has lost lives of over 60,000.

He said that the war on terror was not yet over and it will be taken to the logical conclusion. He also said that international journals were declaring Pakistan en emerging economy, which was a good sign.
