Hajj Quota case: SC upholds its 2013 decision

ISLAMABAD April 3 (TNS): The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a plea of the federal government challenging the order of the Lahore High Court and seeking to increase the Hajj quota.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar formed a committee to probe the change in quota after the LHC ordered to decrease the government quota from 67 to 60 percent.

The chief justice asked Deputy Attorney General Suhail Mehmood if the cabinet could render the order of a superior court ineffective. He dismissed the plea, saying that there was nothing wrong with the LHC order that had increased the quota of private tour operators.
