Karachi, April 3 (TNS): Leg-Spinner Shadab Khan was handed a fine by the ICC for breaching the code of conduct in the second T-20I of the on-going series between West Indies and Pakistan.

Shadab Khan has been charged of one demerit point and 20 percent of his match fees for his inappropriate comments to Islamabad United team-mate Chadwick Walton in the second game of the series.

Shadab Khan committed a level 1 offence according to the ICC rules which clearly suggests that the use of bad language, gesture or action that provokes a batsman to make an aggressive reaction upon his dismissal during a match is prohibited.

Shadab’s case relates to this offence as he pointed at Chadwick Walton after dismissing him and passed on some inappropriate comments as the batsman walked toward the pavilion.

Shadab’s disciplinary record has now been affected due to an addition of a demerit point.

The Pakistan leg-spinner admitted his offence after the match and also accepted the sanction of the fine proposed by the Match Referee’s Panel supervising the match.
