K-Electric’s Powerplant trips, as Heatwave in Karachi gets worse

KARACHI, May 3 (TNS): A stint of an unbearable heatwave which has gripped Karachi this week has been made even worse, as one of K Electric’s power plants tripped on Thursday, in a result of which the citizens suffered excessive load-shedding.

K-Electrics Bin Qasim power plant tripped due which the city submerged into darkness in the wake of untimely load-shedding in an already soaring temperature.

The heatwave prompted the hospitals in the metropolis to declare a two-day emergency.

K-Electric authority officials explained earlier today that Karachi will face excessive load-shedding than usual and areas exempted from the routine power outages will also face temporary load-shedding due to 200 MW shortfall of energy.

Among the areas that will face increased power outage are Clifton, PECHS, Gizri, the company confirmed.

Karachi forecast indicates that the temperature in the metropolis is set to soar to 43°C, according to the Met office heatwave is expected to last till Friday.

To treat the victims of the heatwave Health Department has decided to set a special ward to facilitate the citizens under the radar of scorching heat.
