Islamabad April 4 (TNS): Lashing out at the judicial activism, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that while a plethora of cases was piled up in courts, the chief justice was checking prices of milk and vegetables.
Talking to the media outside the NAB court, the former premier sarcastically said that legislature and executive should be done away with and all administrative responsibilities should be handed over to the chief justice, who seems to be more interested in executive work instead of concentrating on the judiciary and its functions.
Sharif also lashed out at PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for playing dirty politics at the behest of unseen forces and the shameful act he played in Balochistan prior to and during Senate elections.
He also demanded that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi should take notice of negative and suspicious activities in Balochistan.
The former premier also said that there no negligible load-shedding when he was in the office but the menace of power cuts reared its ugly head soon after he was sent home packing.
Talking to the media, Maryam Nawaz said that her mother Kulsoom Nawaz was still undergoing chemotherapy and her health has not improved satisfactorily.
Meanwhile, defence counsel Khawaja Haris cross-examined prosecution witness and JIT chief Wajid Zia and asked him if he has obtained volume 10 of the JIT report from the Supreme Court. To which, Zia said that he has not obtained the entire volume 10 but seven mutual legal assistance requests contained in the report have been obtained.
The defence counsel accused the prosecution witness of changing his statement during his deposition. The cross-examination is underway.
