Peshawar, April 5 (TNS): The Peshawar High Court on Thursday directed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker to take oath from PTI MPA Baldev Kumar.

Kumar is in jail in the murder case of PTI member Soran Singh.

PHC judge Qaiser Rasheed and Muhammad Ayub when took up the hearing, Kumar’s counsel informed the court that the KP Assembly speaker was deliberately not taking the oath of his client. He further said that only a month is left for the provincial assembly to complete its tenure, but the oath to his client has not been administered.

In reply, the KP government’s counsel said that the minimum quorum in the assembly is causing a delay in the oath taking.

The court directed the KP assembly speaker to administer the oath to the members-elect.

Replies were also sought from PTI’s Arbab Jahandad and others, who had hit Kumar with a shoe during his appearance in the assembly for taking the oath earlier last month.

Soran Singh was killed in his native village in 2016. He was elected member of the KP assembly on a reserved seat for minorities. Baldev Kumar was accused of his murder as he was the runner for the reserved seat.
