Islamabad April 18 (TNS): A startling report has revealed that at least eight members belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa received Rs600 million to sell their votes for the Senate elections.
According to a probe committee report submitted to PTI chief Imran Khan, four lawmakers of the PTI from KP received Rs50 million each, three members Rs30 million each and three members Rs20 million each. At least 30 MPs of the party had been approached seeking their votes for money, the report said.
According to the report, the payment was made by “anonymous persons” between February 27 and March 3. According to the report, one woman MPA refused to take Rs20 million as she was offered Rs40 million by the bookies.
According to the report, a total of Rs120 billion were used for the alleged horse-trading and members of the Awami National Party, the Pakistan people’s Party and Qaumi Watan Party also sold their votes for a hefty sum.
The PTI probe committee has recommended strong disciplinary action against the members who had sold their votes for the hefty sum.
