KARACHI, April 19 (TNS): In a major development, the National Accountability Bureau team in Karachi raided a residence of personal secretary of a top official of Sindh Local Government Department and recovered Rs 31.5 million cash, gold jewelry and other valuables, says a press release issued by the prime anti-graft watchdog.
The raid was conducted at the residence of Ramzan Solangi, PS of Local Government Secretary Sindh, confessed to have stashed huge amount of cash and other valuables at his home in Garden area.
On information provided by the accused search operation was conducted at his residence located at Garden Karachi where he had confessed to have kept ‘treasure’ in his safe custody. During search operation, NAB Karachi team recovered following items:
- Cash of Pak Rs. And foreign currency valuing more than Rs. 31.5 million (3 crore 15 lac)
- Prize bonds worth Rs. 1,843,000.
- Gold bars 100 tolas
- Gold Ornaments, precious watches and other valuable assets along with documents worth millions of
rupees.
“It was also unearthed from the preliminary interrogations and recovery of certain documents that the arrested accused has been collecting millions of rupees as monthly bribes from various Departmental heads. It has also been unearthed that he has been running a gang of such individuals who are actively involved in working for influentials for misappropriation of funds of Local Govt. department and disbursal of same. His pointations are likely to lead to further recovery of assets and arrests”, the statement added.
The accused Ramzan Solangi has been remanded in physical custody to NAB on Thursday.
