ISLAMABAD, April 19 (TNS): The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Thursday issued show cause notices to 17 news channel for airing incorrect reporting of Lahore High court order over Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz’s speeches.
According to notification issued by the authority, incorrect reports ran by 17 news channels the in which they misquoted that Lahore High Court had placed a ban on Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz’s speeches.
The statement noted the legal provisions that have caused the PEMRA to issue show cause notice to these channels.
The PEMRA has directed the channels to “show cause in writing as well as appear for personal hearing” to explain as to why the “incorrect reports” were aired.
