Pakistan has calls for tapping younger potential

United Nations, April 24 (TNS): At United Nations, Pakistan has called for tapping younger potential and creativity in an effort to prevent them from conflict, build peace and security, state media reported on Tuesday.

Pakistan’s Permanent representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi, speaking at UN Security Council in an open debate on “Youth, Peace and Security” underscored the need for overcoming negative stereotypes of young people.

She said youth are agents of change in their communities however they faced socio-economic inequalities, political and social exclusion, discrimination and lack of fair opportunities.

She said it is a time to recognize that youths are not merely instruments of war making, but essential peace-building partners.
