ISLAMABAD, April 26 (TNS): Supreme Court (SC) Thursday dismissed contempt of court petitions filed against Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Nawaz Sharif. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar termed the petitions ineffective and dismissed them.
The chief justice remarked that the prime minister did not pass any contemptuous remarks against the judiciary, adding how a statement regarding National Accountability Bureau references could fall into the contempt of court proceeding.
The petitioner Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi pleaded the court that the prime minister Abbasi spoke against the judiciary following the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif in Panamagate case. However, the petitioner could not convince the court from his arguments.
