Rao Anwar fails to appear before ATC in Naqeeb Ullah murder case

KARACHI May 2 (TNS): Key suspect in Naqeeb Ullah murder case, former Senior Superintendent Police Malir, Rao Anwar failed to appear before the anti-terrorism court as jail authorities presented his medical certificate in the court prescribing that he is fallen ill.

While the 11 suspects including Deputy Superintendent Police Qamar Ahmed were produced before the court Anwar failed to appear.

Anwar is currently kept in sub-jail Malir Cant instead of a prison, hence, the certificate was presented by central jail’s medical officer stating that the accused is suffering from sugar, loose motion and fever.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Wednesday heard the case.

Counsel to the Plaintiff after hearing said it is against the requirement of justice to bring a suspect with protocol and added that Anwar’s denial to appear before the court was based on an unusual report.

While Naqeebullah’s family also protested and said that Rao Anwar is not ill but cunning. They also warned to shut the entire country if on the next hearing the suspect is not produced in court in manacles.

The court was adjourned the next hearing of the case till May 14.
