Islamabad, May 4 (TNS): A senior Pakistani umpire, Khalid Mehmood is now facing an inquiry after he skipped a match during the ongoing Pakistan Cup in Faisalabad and also took a cricket team to Malaysia.
The umpire took a local team to Kuala Lumpur and skipped the match of the Pakistan Cup in which he was supposed to fulfill umpiring duties.
Mahmood without informing the Pakistan cricket board went to Malaysia dropping the board short of an umpire during the tournament. Earlier he had promised to be available for the umpiring of the game.
Khalid Mahmood went against the rules of the central contract that prohibit any umpire from skipping any domestic match during an event especially without the board’s approval.
The board will launch an inquiry into the case against Mahmood and a decision will be given once the inquiry is complete.
Khalid is one of the top names among umpires in the domestic circuit and he has umpired high profile leagues such as Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League and also has a few international matches to his name in his umpiring career.
