SC summons chiefs of all airlines operating in country including PM Abbasi as owner of an airline

ISLAMABAD May 10 (TNS): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar has summoned the heads of all airlines of the country including Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as the owner of a private airline to the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry on Saturday.

A three-member bench headed by the CJP Nisar heard the Suo Motu case related to fake degrees of airline employees.

During the hearing, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) director informed the court that the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also owns Air Blue upon which chief justice remarked that they can call him in his private capacity.

The court observed that the complete data from all airlines have still not been submitted to the court, adding that the CEOs should explain this, at the next hearing.

Answering to a question of the court the CAA official said that only the state-run Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Shaheen Airlines have provided the required data.

On the query of the court, the CCA official also informed the court that there are four airlines in the country at present.

The CAA director added that the court had ordered to verify the data of 1,972 employees of PIA, whereas up till now the data of 225 staffers have been received of which 108’s degrees have been verified.
