Peshawar May 11 (TNS): At least five people, including two women and two children, were killed and two others wounded in a blast in the in Hotel Afandi in Bilal Town area of Peshawar early Friday morning.
The Capital City Police Officer Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman said: “The explosion has destroyed the room where seven members of a family from Hangu district were staying and five of them have been killed on the spot”. The family had come for medical treatment from Hangu to Peshawar, he added.
The deceased were identified as Kamran, his wife, mother and two children while two of his brother’s sons were injured.
The injured have got burn injuries in the explosion, were shifted to Rawalpindi in critical condition for treatment.
The CCPO said the cause of the blast has yet to be determined, adding, suspected the explosion could have occurred due to the accumulation of gas in the room. While the AIG Shafqat who has visited the explosion site along with bomb disposal squad said the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder, not an explosive device, said the AIG.
