ISLAMABAD, May 12 (TNS): India media as per its traditional approach has started making a great noise over the remarks of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about much hyped 2008 Mumbai Attacks famously called as 26/11.
Nawaz Sharif during an interview taken before his Multan rally on Friday evening by controversially famous journalist Cyril Almeida and published in DAWN today has said “Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai?”
He went on by questioning “Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?” a reference to the Mumbai attacks-related trials which have stalled in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court.
India blames LeT militants for the attack that was carried out on 29 November 2008. 164 people died and 308 were wounded before 10 attackers being killed by Indian forces after fighting them for 48 hours in world famous Taj Mehel Hotel.
Despite Indian uproar, many in the country have been questioning the nature of the attack saying that among the killed was one special officer Hemant Karkare, chief of the Mumbai Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) who was conducting the investigations into the 2008 Malegaon blasts in which 8 Muslims were killed and 80 others injured. Karkare was believed to be on the point of busting the reality and exposing real faces behind the attack.
Indian media, finding Nawaz’s statement as a good means to spit venom against Pakistan has started to cause tumult, branding it as acknowledgment or confession from a highest seated man that it indeed was Pakistan as a state behind the attack.
With his controversial statement, Nawaz Sharif has started receiving severe criticism from almost every quarter in the country and it is believed might hugely damage his two pronged strive to win the election and at the same time nail down his ‘invisible’ foes.
Imran Khan during his speech in Karachi Rally this evening has lambasted Nawaz for making such a controversial statement questioning why he didn’t take any action if he believes that there were some state actors behind Mumbai Attacks. Imran branded it animosity against country for petty political gains from Nawaz Sharif.
